According To THR: In an intriguing departure from the Tobey Maguire-Kirsten Dunst movies, the love-interest character will not be Mary Jane. Who she will be remains uncertain, however. The character could be Gwen Stacy, Spider-Man’s other love interest in the comics, or it could even be some new character.

The names being tossed around in addition to Emma Roberts’ include: Imogen Poots (currently shooting a Fright Night remake); Ophelia Lovibond (an up-and-coming British actress); Lily Collins (The Blind Side); and Teresa Palmer (The Sorcerer’s Apprentice).
